AIRCRAFT TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

University of Turkish Aeronautical Association was established with the aim of training the qualified labor force needed by the aviation industry in accordance with Atatürk's remark: “the future is in the skies." Our university is the first and only specialized university in the field of aviation and space sciences in Turkey.

With this purpose in mind, we train the qualified labor force needed in the national projects that are carried out by our country’s defense industry and in all areas of the thriving civil air transportation sector, with our theoretical and applied courses. Applied courses are conducted in our newly established workshops and laboratories.

The most important feature that distinguishes İzmir Aeronautical Vocational School of Higher Education Aircraft Technology program from others is that our university has the “Recognized School Status under SHY 66” and our students are exempt from "8 modules in B1 and B2 categories."

Students who are accepted to İzmir Aeronautical Vocational School of Higher Education Aircraft Technology program in the 2019-2020 academic year and after, if they successfully pass the exams and complete the applied courses, receive a certificate in the Recognized School Status A2: Piston Engine Aircrafts category; (the certificate is equivalent to 12 module exemptions in category A2 and 1 year of work experience).

Students who are accepted in the 2017-2018 academic year and after, if they successfully graduate, gain the right to be exempted from Module 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 in B1 and B2 categories within the scope of SHY 66 (Aircraft Approving Personnel Regulation).

The license of Category B covers all the authorizations of the license of Category A and authorizes the person for all maintenance of the aircraft that is not granted by Category A license. For this reason, especially the civil aviation companies prefer to work with technicians who have Category B license as maintenance technicians. Category B technician license holders are not only offered a wider range of job opportunities in the aviation industry, but they are also granted more authorization in the workplace environment.

The Civil Aviation industry continues to grow phenomenally in the world and in Turkey.

One of the necessities of being able to be competitive in today’s international market is to turn to advanced technology and have high added value production.

Aviation industry is among the sectors with high added value, where advanced technology is used intensively. Despite being the cradle of Aviation industry Europe and the U.S.A. are known with extreme labor costs. The Aviation industry

• develops continuously and dynamically,
• is powered by research and development activities,
• creates employment opportunities and requires various engineering branches to work concurrently,
• seeks, but at the same time provides the platform to create, qualified labor force.

Especially in recent years, the growth of private airlines has accelerated the growth of airports. Therefore, the need for qualified personnel in this field is increasing day by day.

The program is designed to give necessary training of services to ensure a safe flight, along with personal development courses aimed at increasing the service quality. The program includes not only theoretical courses but also applied courses. İzmir Aeronautical Vocational School of Higher Education provides aircraft technologies training in accordance with international regulations and the applied courses are given at the airports of our university.
